Doves

Wheezer's Notes:
The Mourning Dove is a quiet, peaceful bird. Cooing as though mourning the loss of a friend. Doves are attracted, primarily, to ground feeders. They will congregate underneath your hanging feeders and eat seed dropped by other birds at the feeders. They are too large, normally, to actually eat from a hanging feeder. You may also see a slightly larger dove called a collared dove mixed in -- these are distinguished by a small, black collar on the back of their neck that the mourning dove does not have.

Range: Mourning doves are common all over the United States as shown at USGS Patuxent Bird Identification Center. Collared doves are not as common as shown here.
